Conversion to 50 self-contained apartmentsCamden Town, London
On 27th January 2012, TTN Building Contractors commenced reinstatement works to 261 Camden Road, formerly known as Heywood House, with the objective to create 50 self-contained studio apartments for medium–term rental, ideally suited for students. A Victorian five-storey building, Heywood House was severely damaged by fire and consequently exposed to the elements since 2007/8. The 3rd floor and roof had to be demolished and rebuilt in line with current building regulations. A timber survey of the building revealed 98% wood rot to all windows, door lintels, joists and wall plates, all of which were replaced. All walls were stripped back to brickwork, re-pointed then rendered with additional thermal upgrades, indeed the only elements which remained of the original building were the four outer walls. This project was completed on 27th September 2012.
